Energy Efficiency Targets and Building Measures
National Construction Code
The release of the 2022 National Construction Code (Vol 2) has included a move from 6 star thermal energy performance of housing to 7 star. This transition will require new home builders to explore materials that will help to obtain 7 star performance. Insulation will play a significant role in this transition, in the supply of compliant insulation product that is fit for purpose and the training and certification of installers. Correctly installed insulation will also play a role in managing condensation within the home, coupled with air-tightness and ventilation. Check out the Condensation Management in Buildings Handbook here to understand regulatory compliance.
Federal and State Government Emission reduction targets
The Federal and State Governments have goals to reduce carbon emissions and energy demand. Insulation can play a key role in reducing energy demand in new and exisiting homes and commercial buildings, thereby reducing carbon emissions.
